One record of everything the family has in venture: funds you committed to and companies you back directly.
VentureFract is operations software for family offices that invest in venture. It tracks your commitments to other managers' funds, the calls and distributions that follow, and the direct deals and portfolio companies you hold yourselves, in one place with the same numbers everywhere. It is not a fund administrator and it does not match investors with founders.
No card needed for the 14-day trial. Outside fund commitments are part of the Firm plan, $900 a month. The consolidated report, the call forecast and the read-only Viewer role are part of the Institutional plan, $2,400 a month.
A spreadsheet per manager and a folder of capital call notices.
Commitments scattered across managers
What was committed to each fund, what has been called and what is still to come lives in separate files, so nobody can say how much cash the family should have ready next quarter.
Notices that arrive as attachments
Capital calls and distributions come as PDFs in email. Nothing ties them to the commitment, so the totals are rebuilt by hand every quarter.
Direct deals kept somewhere else
The companies you back directly sit in another tool, or in someone's head, so the family never sees one picture of everything it owns.
From commitments to one family view.
1. Record each outside fund
Add the funds you have committed to, with the manager, the commitment and the vintage. Each one keeps its own record of capital calls and distributions.
2. Log calls and distributions
Enter each notice as it arrives. Paid-in, distributed and what is left to call update from the entries, and each figure shows how it was worked out.
3. See what is coming
On the Institutional plan, a four-quarter forecast shows the calls already scheduled by due date plus an estimate for each fund, worked out from its unfunded commitment and expected pace and labelled as an estimate, so cash is ready before it is needed.
4. Track what you hold directly
Run direct deals through a pipeline, write investment memos for your committee, and follow each portfolio company with its cap table and founder updates.
A read-only view for the people who only need to look.
- On the Institutional plan, a read-only Viewer role for family members, trustees and accountants: a Viewer sees the consolidated report and nothing else, cannot change anything and does not use a seat
- Every change is recorded in an audit trail, with who made it and when
- Invitations go to the address you enter, and access ends when you remove the person
- You can bring in an existing cap table for a direct holding from a spreadsheet file, labelled as imported, and review it before it is saved
One consolidated report across every fund and holding.
The consolidated report brings your own vehicles and your outside funds together, with exposure by vintage, stage, geography and manager, and the four-quarter call forecast. Where a figure is an estimate it says so, and where a value is not known it says that instead of showing a guess. It is part of the Institutional plan.
What family offices ask first.
Can a family office track commitments to funds it does not manage?
Yes. An outside fund is a commitment you hold in another manager's fund. You record the commitment, the capital calls and the distributions you receive, and VentureFract shows paid-in, distributed and what remains to be called. Outside fund commitments are part of the Firm plan and above.
Does VentureFract move money or administer the funds?
No. VentureFract is a record-keeping and reporting tool. It does not hold money, make payments or act as a fund administrator, and it does not give investment, tax or legal advice.
Can family members see everything?
No. On the Institutional plan you can invite a read-only Viewer, such as a trustee, an accountant or a family member. A Viewer sees the consolidated report and nothing else, and cannot change anything. Every change by the people who do work in the workspace is kept in an audit trail.
Does VentureFract introduce us to funds or founders?
No. There is no matching or introductions. The product works only with the funds, deals and companies you enter.
Can we bring our existing records in?
Yes. You can import deals and portfolio companies from a spreadsheet or a shared Google Sheet, and bring in an existing cap table from a CSV file. Every import shows which columns were used and which were not, and lists any line it could not read before anything is saved.
